FDNY firefighters made quick work of the roof top fire featured below on August 18, 2008.  The fire took place in the Union Square Area on 24 East 21st Street in Manhattan, NY.  Early reports place fire on the top of an eight story brick with commercial on the first story. The fire was located near a water tank, and a propane gas tank was involved.

FDNY firefighters went to work on a fire in the basement of the Bellevue Mens Shelter at the corner of 30th Street and First Avenue. The fire was contained to the basement storage area and on scene reports claimed the fire burned for almost an hour before the alarm actually went off.
